About

Lesley Barovick
Founder, Groove Family Music

Lesley Barovick is a life-long music maker raised in a music family. When her young family moved from Brooklyn to Larchmont in 2003. she found a lack of engaging, live music programs in her new neighborhood. So Groove was born. Groove Family Music has twice received Westchester Magazine's Best of Westchester Award for Best Kid's Class, as well as countless accolades from parenting publications and real-live parents, too! Lesley is a proud alum of the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance, where she earned a Bachelor of Musical Arts degree in voice performance. She went on to receive her MFA in Arts Management from Brooklyn College. Before founding Groove Family Music, Lesley served as Director of Development for a number of not-for-profit arts organizations in New York City including Jazz at Lincoln Center (with Wynton Marsalis), Playwrights Horizons and Celebrate Brooklyn. In conjunction with her work at Groove, Lesley is happy to be a curriculum builder and teacher at the Brooklyn Music Factory, a class leader for the LM STEM Alliance Co-Op Camp and an active member the Music for Kiddos community of music educators & therapists.
Lesley is also honored to be a sacred song leader for Sanctuary NY. She is the proud mama of two 20-somethings who makes music.
Fun Fact: Lesley sang with Peter, Paul and Mary on the Phil Donahue Show in 1989.
